Christians these days tend to speak (and sing) more about their love for Jesus than his love for them.

Given the title of the book, you may be surprised to know that I find myself at variance with the trend. For this reason I have been careful to emphasise that my love for Jesus is a response to his amazing love for me – a response that I could not give without his help and support.

I love him because he first loved me. I love him because my name was linked with his before the world was made. I love him because he accomplished my redemption. I love him because he found me when I was lost and drew me to himself. I love him because he has promised never to leave me nor forsake me. I love him because he has gone to prepare a place for me, and is coming back to take me to be with him.

If I had my life over again I would spend it serving the Lord I love. Perhaps I would be a more faithful servant the second time round. But indulging in fantasy serves no useful purpose. Yet, as Paul said, I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. I know that the love of Jesus is unconditional and I know his death covers all my sins. Therefore, to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

I would be pleased to help anyone to find the truth as it is revealed in Jesus Christ. If you are concerned about your eternal destiny as I was, God can do for you what he has done for me. I cannot answer every question, but I will do what I can. Please email me in the strictest confidence. And please remember, I am only one beggar telling another where to find bread.

Flippant emails will not be answered.
